The Risks with Playing Too Many Poker Hands
Being a newcomer to Poker, it is understandable that you will want to play in as many hands possible, to gain experience and also win the pot. But if you want to be a successful player, it is important that you become more selective about the Poker hands that you play with.
No one wants to fold of course, but you also have to use your common sense; there is no point staying in a game wherein you are holding a losing Poker hand. It will just end up costing you a lot of money. The end result is that you will lose your bankroll much more quickly and thus play much less games.
The first thing that you should do is make a selection of Poker hands that you will play with. Of course there are different types of starting hands, all dependent on style. Some of the best starting hands in Texas Holdem include AK, KK, QQ suited etc. Different players have different Poker hand selections, and you will learn which ones are the best for you through constant playing.
By sticking with a select set of hands, it means that you will have to fold quite a lot of times and not see the flop, and that is perfectly all right. The problem with playing too many Poker hands is that you will end up being a chaser. That is, in your effort to augment the strength of your weak 55 you will pay a lot to see the flop, turn or even river, hoping to get the set.
But the fact is that even if you do get the set, it is a weak one, and something that can be beaten by a wide variety of Poker hands.
So you end up paying money to obtain a hand that will be beaten easily. This problem, of course, stems from playing too many starting hands. If you exercise patience, then you will be able to save your dollars, and use them to make the necessary bets and raises when you get the big hand.
The problem with playing too many Poker hands, as you can see, can deplete your bankroll very quickly. Too many new Poker players, in their desire to win as quickly as possible, end up paying the price.
By learning to be patient, you will be able to make the right moves with the proper hands.
