Omaha poker starts out with four hole cards for each player and you can have up to nine players for Omaha poker. After these four cards have been dealt, the dealer deals the first three community cards. After the community cards have been dealt, all the players have to make their first move which means to either call, check or fold.

After the first bets have been placed and the other players have folded, the dealer deals another community card which is once again followed by the check or fold action which is in turn followed by another community card and the final showdown. This means that there are a total of five community cards and four hole cards. You have now the chance to pair your hole cards with the community cards to form the best poker hand possible. In Omaha poker, it is the rule to use three of the community cards and only two of your hole cards.

The main reason why Omaha poker offers better opportunities in winning is because there are more cards to form a poker hand from and because Omaha poker has different betting strategies.
